LOOKFANTASTIC's Scent Edit is just Sublime

It’s National Fragrance Week this week, and as with so many key dates in the year, LOOKFANTASTIC has curated a very special edit to help you celebrate the week, and find a brand new favourite fragrance.

There hadn’t been any teasers for the Scent Edit, so when it dropped on 24th May, it took brand fans by surprise.

Retailing at £55, it's actually more affordable than I had first anticipated but at the same time isn't super cheap considering the fragrances are minis. However, in each box there is a £55 voucher to redeem against a full sized version of those inside, meaning that in essence your box is free when making a further purchase.

“LOOKING GOOD AND SMELLING AMAZING HAS NEVER BEEN EASIER THANKS TO THE LOOKFANTASTIC SCENT EDIT.” - LOOKFANTASTIC

We love a big, bold claim; so what’s inside the box and who will it appeal to?

Revealed along with the launch, the box will contain six signature fragrances with two additional treats inside:

Mugler Alien Eau de Parfum - 6ml Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Eau de Parfum - 7.5ml Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb - 7ml Lancôme Idole Eau de Parfum - 5ml

The first of these additional treats is the Lancôme Mr Big Mascara 2ml, so still one more to come: my money is on a glossy lip product, but I can’t wait to find out.

So four of the six fragrances have been released, and with their super cute, dinky miniature packaging these aren’t just useful handbag sizes, they’re pretty nice aesthetically too.

There are a couple of things to consider when choosing your perfume, firstly, if you know the fragrance types you like, you can check out the Top, Base and Heart notes of a particular fragrance. Next you want to consider the longevity of your fragrance. Whilst a heavier fragrance will generally have a longer wear time, your lighter and more floral fragrances may require a top up halfway through the day.

Perhaps my favourite fragrance term is 'Sillage', which is the French term for 'Wake', so the sillage of a scent is referring to the trail left behind by the wearer. There are tricks you can use to make this more obvious, such as spritzing your hair or behind your ears as the more sillage a fragrance has, the more desirable it's seen to have.

Alien by Thierry Mugler is very much a nighttime fragrance, it's a very sensual fragrance with soft, romantic tones with an enorgous sillage and excellent longevity.

Top Notes

Pink pepper, Orange blossom

Heart Notes

Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent is a musky, sensual fragrance that warms the wearer. A definite evening fragrance, Black Opium boasts moderate sillage and a mid range longevity.

Top Notes

Bergamot, Tea

Heart Notes

Jasmine, Freesia, Orchid

Base notes

Centiflora rose, Patchouli

Flowerbomb by Victor & Rolf is absolutely a fragrance for lovers. Fresh, floral and citrussy; its a fun and flirty scent characterised by its high longevity and heavy silliage.

Top notes

Pear, Bergamot

Middle notes

Turkish rose, Rose de Mai, Indian Jasmine

Idole by Lancome is a scent for those who don't enjoy the overwhelming intoxication of a strong frangrance. A light fragrance, ideal for daytime wearing, it boasts a floral, fruity and romantic character with low sillage and low longevity.

What other two scents do you think will feature in the box?
