Rapid Reviews: Clinique City Block SPF 40
Given that I live in Glasgow and we don’t have the hottest climate, I’d never worn a dedicated SPF product nor been particularly fussed about using one, but having seen it become such a hot topic over the past weeks on social media I felt it was about time I tried this one out.

It’s a lovely formulation, light and gel-like with great spreadability – I think the automatic assumption is that SPF is going to be a think, white paste that’s sticky and attracts things to get stuck to your skin a la sand on the beach. Whilst this does leave skin a bit tacky, it also gives a brilliant glow and skin looks radiant.
Plenty of people will tell you that an SPF 40 isn’t enough, and I’m not a dermatologist by any means – but hey, plenty of those whose words are taken as gospel aren’t either!
For an everyday SPF where you aren’t baking yourself in the sun or providing you don’t live somewhere where you have a high UV Index – or more crucially, have a condition which makes you more predisposed to sun damage – I think this does the trick.
Verdict: 8/10 as I still haven’t figured out how to layer with a few of my favourite products.
