Shake Up Your Saturday For World Gin Day

Updated: Jul 13, 2020

It’s World Gin Day and I’m celebrating by creating my own gin cocktails.

Following on from my guest blog, I’ve been very kindly gifted some of Caorunn’s Raspberry gin to create one of their carefully curated recipes in partnership with world-renowned mixologist Walter Pintus.

Scotland’s leading handcrafted gin, Caorunn is created in small batches and quadriple distilled in the Scottish Highlands.

This World Gin Day they’re encouraging us to think ‘outside the glass’.

So I’ve made their Afternoon in the Highlands cocktail, which is a sophisticated G&T.

An Afternoon in the Highlands

40ml Caorunn Raspberry

30ml raspberry cordial

25ml lemon juice

40ml tonic water

2ml whisky

[You can make the cordial yourself by stirring together 500g caster sugar, 1L water and 200g raspberries in a pan. Bring to the boil and simmer for 15 mins. After cooling, strain and refrigerate]

Stir everything into a glass over ice and garnish with Pink Lady slices.

Not into the raspberry?

Celtic Remedy

30ml Caorunn

10ml Campari

2.5ml cider vinegar

¼ apple

1 blackberry

10ml sugar syrup

In a shaker, muddle he apple and blackberry together before adding the rest of the ingredients together and giving a good shake. Double strain over ice and garnish with a blackberry.

Or why not just try their perfect serve?

Caorunn Perfect Serve

Over ice, add equal measures of Caorunn and 1 part tonic water – garnish with slices of Pink Lady apple and enjoy!

How are you celebrating World Gin Day?
